Industry Challenges and Needs

Medical devices place stringent demands on the biocompatibility, surface cleanliness, and dimensional stability of materials. Components require frequent sterilization while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing appearance, and are also lightweight and easy to use—e.g., wheelchairs, surgical light arms, diagnostic equipment frames, etc.


Alumag's Solution

We select alloys such as 6063, 6005, and 6060, which are easily anodized, and achieve a mirror finish with Ra≤0.8μm through precision extrusion and CNC machining. All sharp edges are automatically deburred. Combined with dust-free packaging, this directly meets the assembly requirements of Class II and Class III medical devices.

Case Study

Customized Ultralight Wheelchair Side Panels for a Japanese Rehabilitation Equipment Client

Traditional wheelchair side panels are made of welded carbon steel, weighing up to 4.2kg. Alumag, in collaboration with the client, developed 7003-T5 shaped seamless tubing, replacing multiple welded parts with a single extrusion molding process, reducing the weight to 2.8kg. Simultaneously, the surface undergoes hard anodizing, increasing wear resistance by 3 times. Our clients' products won an innovation award at an international rehabilitation exhibition, and their annual purchase volume exceeded 100,000 sets.
