2000 Series Aluminum rectangular Profile
2000 series aluminum rectangular profiles are available in 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2024 grades for applications that require higher mechanical performance than general-purpose aluminum sections. Within this range, 2014 aluminum is a high-strength aluminum-copper alloy containing smaller amounts of magnesium and manganese and is suitable for heat treatment.
2014 aluminum provides high strength for structural applications and can be machined with appropriate tooling and cutting conditions. Carbide tooling and suitable cutting fluids can be used during machining. The alloy offers moderate corrosion resistance, so anodizing or protective coating can be applied when additional surface protection is required.
The profile can be finished by anodizing, painting or powder coating. TIG and MIG welding are possible for 2014 aluminum, with appropriate process control to reduce cracking and distortion.
